Dorothy Ashby - Dorothy Ashby (August 6, 1932-April 13, 1986) was born Dorothy Jeanne Thompson in Detroit, Michigan and died in Santa Monica, California at age 53. She was a noted jazz harp player who grew up around music in Detroit where her father, guitarist Wiley Thompson, often brought home fellow jazz musicians.
